Галерейні буднi.

History of the gallery "Na Uyutnoy"Gallery routine The working routine of the gallery began. My husband Radu was busy, he had to work and provide for his family.  It seemed to me that for better management of the business, Lyuda and I needed a man - a business partner. As I already said, Lyuda developed her activity as an administrator and began to recruit staff for the gallery. She lived right in the gallery and I had no idea that in the evenings when I was absent, there was a life of its own. So regarding the partner, I had to make a decision and invite the artist Boris Lukin to work. I liked his business qualities from his time of work at the Art Combine. For this, we even changed the charter of the gallery, making it a limited liability company. So now not only Lyuda but also Boris became the founders of the gallery. The gallery was removed from the flow of people and we did not have to wait for random visitors. It was necessary to present and advertise the gallery, and t...

The first photo exhibition in the gallery "Na Uyutnoy" 1991

Image
The first  exhibition in the gallery "Na Uyutnoy" 1991 was a photo exhibition by Valentine Sichinsky, Odesa Every morning, on the way to work, I bought bouquets of wildflowers near the Privoz market and placed them throughout the gallery in vases that were given to me by Lina Knyukh (Odessa ceramic artist and godmother of our Sylvia). From the very beginning of the work, the gallery presented a general exposition of Odessa artists who worked alongside us. These were the works of Oleg Staykov, Elena Kulchik and Alexander Lekomtsev, and mine. For us, artists who had previously been engaged in the execution of design orders, the opportunity to directly engage in our creativity was a real breakthrough. Before that, we had no idea that our creative works would be of interest to anyone and that they would ever be bought. The walls in the gallery were covered with brick-colored povinol, it was not quite a gallery format, it is customary for galleries to have white walls so as not to...

Gallery "Na Uyutnoy". Racketeering. 1990...

Gallery "Na Uyutnoy". Racketeering. http://binovskaya.com/gallery-recket/ Yesterday I walked around all day and thought about what to write about this topic so that it would be understandable not only to my Ukrainian friends but also to those who do not live in Ukraine and do not know the realities of our life. The topic of racketeering. When I founded the gallery, I understood that by becoming responsible for paintings, souvenirs, and other goods in the gallery, I would bear financial responsibility for all of this. Looking closely at how new businessmen work, I learned that they do not enter into contracts with the police. What to do? I have a friend and I have already talked about her - this is a gorgeous woman Verunya, who at that time was connected with special people, the so-called bandits in law, they were called racketeers. They carried out security and protection of businesses. Verunya introduced me to her friend of Armenian origin named Grisha and he brought me up t...

My painting "Uytnaya Street in Winter" oil on canvas 100x100cm, museum collection Registration and opening of the gallery I decided to do something very serious, needing a clearer idea of how it would happen. I am an artist, I still don’t know how to make calculations, and for me, managing a private enterprise, sounded, at the very least, strange. In one of the basements on Sadovaya Street, there was a law firm that helped to draw up the enterprise charter. Having stood in line, and having listened, I realized that it was really scary. People considered their future profit... Mom, having learned that I had decided to do this, did not talk to me for six months after that, having decided that it was too much responsibility to do business myself. I think it is worth mentioning the registration of the enterprise. Everything happened in the Primorsky District Executive Committee. On the appointed day, I came to register with the documents. I was almost the only woman among a hug...

Art studio that became a gallery

Image
Once, Evgeny Lukashov, a well-known collector and patron of the arts in the city, gave me a photo taken in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, which depicts the Rotonda cafe - in spirit and style, everything in this photo reminded me very much of the atmosphere of Uyutnaya, which everyone who remembers it can see for themselves. When I created the gallery enterprise, I was alone. I had no support. Radu worked to provide for our family, by that time we already had two daughters - Rada and Sylvia. I thought about inviting my half-sister on my father's side, Lyuda, to move to Odessa. Lyuda lived in Vyzhnytsia at that time and I knew what her life was like there. I still have some strange feeling of gratitude towards her for pushing me in a stroller when I was little. I didn't understand one important thing then - never interfere with the fate of others, even those who seemed close to you. Interfering with fate means changing God's plans. It means interfering with his p...

Perestroyka. My First Gallery 'Na Uytnoy", 1990... Odesa, Ukraine

Image
All born after the Second World War lived most of our adult lives in the false Soviet Union. In the early 1990s, our lives changed. Having worked for more than 15 years at the Odesa Art Production Enterprise, making excellent money doing what I love, I was absolutely sure that I would continue to work until my retirement. But that did not happen. “Perestroika” came into our lives, and we also had to rebuild our lives. It was then that I thought about creating an art gallery based on my art studio. The studio was located in a very cozy place in Odessa on Uyutnaya street. In 1991, I registered a small private company “Na Uyutnaya” (the status of a gallery did not exist at that time). My gallery has become the first private gallery in Ukraine. The gallery worked until 2000 and became the progenitor of another beautiful gallery – Maritime Art Gallery

My birth as an Аrtist. 90s of the 20th century.

Image
Until the beginning of the 90s, few of the artists living at that time were engaged in free creativity. Yes, of course, members of the Union of Artists received orders for paintings, but they were mostly thematic, that is, they served to promote the existing and decaying system. At that time, there was no chance to sell your works. But Perestroika came and we instantly became free! We became – people, we became – artists! We entered the era of free economic relations and now, no one told us anything. Everyone could create what they personally wanted and felt and there was a demand for it! Active movement in the art market in the 90s was also due to the fact that, having gained independence, Ukraine became attractive to numerous tourists, as well as those who left the country – emigrants. It was the latter, leaving their home, who tried to take with them a piece of the culture of their homeland. And I really loved to paint still lifes, and not only then, but still lifes attract me now. ...
