The first  exhibition in the gallery "Na Uyutnoy" 1991 was a photo exhibition by Valentine Sichinsky, Odesa

Every morning, on the way to work, I bought bouquets of wildflowers near the Privoz market and placed them throughout the gallery in vases that were given to me by Lina Knyukh (Odessa ceramic artist and godmother of our Sylvia).

From the very beginning of the work, the gallery presented a general exposition of Odessa artists who worked alongside us. These were the works of Oleg Staykov, Elena Kulchik and Alexander Lekomtsev, and mine.

For us, artists who had previously been engaged in the execution of design orders, the opportunity to directly engage in our creativity was a real breakthrough. Before that, we had no idea that our creative works would be of interest to anyone and that they would ever be bought.

The walls in the gallery were covered with brick-colored povinol, it was not quite a gallery format, it is customary for galleries to have white walls so as not to interfere with the perception of the color of the painting. But we had no choice. The walls in the semi-basement were damp, and this povinol did not let the dampness out.

In the materials that have survived, the first exhibition mentioned was the exhibition of photography by Valentin Sichinsky. Valentin himself is handsome and he has a very beautiful wife, Allochka, and his exhibition was also very beautiful.

All over the world, photography is very popular, and people pay as much money for photos of famous masters as for painting. Probably, the unpopularity of buying works by our photographers depends only on them. An artist, offering his work for sale, first of all, must spend money, buying at least materials. And local photographers, having made their masterpieces, groan if you tell them - that to make an exhibition, you need to make a decent size, and frame the work! "What, you, how is this, we have absolutely no funds!"

So here I want to note, at Valentin's exhibition - photos were sold! 

One of them is even in our gallery collection. With the light hand of our gallery, the Advertising Courier publication organized the "Photo Model" competition, where Valentin Sichinsky photographed all those wishing to participate in the model competition.

Перша фото-виставка у галереї "На Затишній" 1991

Щоранку, по дорозі на роботу, я купувала біля ринку Привіз, букетики польових квітів і розставляла їх по всій галереї у вазочки, які подарувала Ліна Кнюх (одеський художник кераміст та хрещена мама нашої Сільвії).

Із самого початку роботи в галереї було представлено спільну експозицію одеських художників, які працювали з нами поруч. Це були роботи Олега Стайкова, Олени Кульчик та Олександра Лекомцева та мої.

Для нас, художників, які раніше займалися виконанням оформлювальних замовлень, можливість зайнятися безпосередньо своєю творчістю, стало справжнім проривом. До цього ми собі зовсім не уявляли, що наші творчі роботи когось цікавитимуть, та й ще, їх колись купуватимуть.

Стіни в галереї були обтягнуті повином цегляного кольору, це був не зовсім галеристський формат, в галереї прийнято мати білі стіни для того, щоб не заважати сприйняттю кольору мальовничого твору. Але ми не мали виходу. Стіни в напівпідвальному приміщенні були сирими, а це він не пропускав вогкість назовні.

У матеріалах, що збереглися, першою виставкою згадано виставку фотографії Валентина Січинського. Валентин сам гарний собою і в нього дуже гарна дружина Аллочка та його виставка була теж дуже гарною.

У всьому світі фотографія дуже популярна, і за фото відомих майстрів платять такі гроші, як і за живопис. Напевно, непопулярність придбання робіт наших фотографів залежить лише від них самих. Художник, пропонуючи свій твір до продажу, перш за все повинен витратитися, купивши хоча б матеріали. А місцеві фотографи, зробивши свої шедеври, стогнуть, якщо їм скажеш – що для того, щоб зробити виставку, потрібно зробити гідний розмір, оформити роботу! "Що, ти, як це, у нас абсолютно немає коштів!"

Так ось тут хочу зауважити, на виставці Валентина – фото продавали. Одна з них навіть є в нашій колекції. З легкої руки нашої галереї видання Рекламний кур'єр організувало конкурс «Фотомодель», де Валентин Січинський знімав усіх бажаючих брати участь у конкурсі моделей.
