Ми з вами у спогадах пройшли та завершили 1996 у галереї "На Уютной" і тепер плавно переходимо в події наступного 1997 року. На жаль наші спогади тануть як сніг і багато залишається в небуття, проте продовжуємо.

Брюгге

У лютому відбувся наш від'їзд до Бельгії. Цьому передувала велика підготовка. Я зробила та затвердила ескізи та приготувала картони для розпису. І тоді я дуже шкодувала, що не потрапила в Брюгге до того, як почала працювати над ескізами. Брюгге - одне з найбільш незвичайних міст Європи. Після Парижа він знаходиться на другому місці за відвідуваністю туристами. Місто збудовано у 12 столітті і того самого часу, міською владою накладено сувору заборону на якесь спотворення фасадів при реконструкції.

Таким чином, бельгійці змогли донести до нас, та я думаю, донесуть і до наших нащадків усю неповторність брейгелівської Фландрії. Маленькі середньовічні вулички перетинаються каналами. Місто саме так влаштоване, що по всьому колу в кілька рядів воно оточене каналами. Є будинки, чиї фасади становлять лише два метри, є й такі вулички. Вечорами всі бари та ресторани Брюгге запалюються вогниками свічок, біля входу до багатьох закладів стоять великі наповнені парафіном горщики, в яких є ґноти. Якщо в барі є вільні місця, то ці великі свічки горять, якщо ні, їх гасять.

Брюгге став для нас другою батьківщиною, і щороку мене так тягне туди. Готель у якому ми робили розпис взагалі став нашим будинком, коли заходиш туди, то відчуваєш незвичайне почуття затишку та будинку. Щороку так тягне приїхати туди, і сьогодні здається, що Брюгге – це друге місто мого серця.

А того року, зробивши ескізи, затвердивши їх, ми чекали з нетерпінням відкриття візи. А це була чимала праця для Олени Туманової. Документи робили через нідерландське посольство. Пам'ятаю, треба було їхати до Києва, поїзд приходив за 15 хвилин до початку роботи посольства, отже, за цей час нам потрібно було спіймати таксі і встигнути дістатися місця. Рівно о 8.30 виходив співробітник посольства, і всі починали голосно вигукувати свої прізвища, причому чим голосніше, тим краще. Оскільки тебе не почують і не запишуть, то доведеться залишатися ще на один день. А це спричиняє замовлення номера в готелі та інше. Щоразу оформляючи виїзні документи, для нас бідних українців вигадують немислимі приниження, цікаво, за що це нам?

Після великої роботи, проведеної голландськими юристами, нам нарешті дали дозвіл на виїзд. Галина Олександрівна Сидики, жартувала, говорячи про те, що ми з Радою тепер найперевіреніші люди в їхній країні.

Цікава подія сталася пізніше, коли ми вже були на місці та займалися зі співробітниками готелю розмитненням картин, які ми привезли для виставки… Усі пішли на митний склад, а я залишилася на них чекати у мікроавтобусі. Сиділа і знічев'я розглядала свій паспорт, свою нову гарну візу… і раптом виявила, що термін її дії лише 15 днів, замість 3 місяців. Справа в тому, що всі так зраділи, що її видали, що ніхто не звірив дати перед вильотом. Це була цікава новина, бо залишитись без візи, було порушенням закону, продовжувати її на місці було складно, довелося відпрацювати 15 днів та повертатися…

Так, що почали ми і зробили частину роботи, отримали масу задоволення від зробленого, але незабаром поїхали, щоб повернутися, цього разу вже наприкінці серпня.

А для галереї корисним стало те, що саме в офісі в готелі мені попалася в руки реклама Виставкового центру в Генті, де серед інших промислових виставок проходив фестиваль Лінеарт, в якому незабаром, а саме в 1998 році ми взяли участь. Але про це згодом і вже в історії Морської галереї.

You and I went through and ended 1996 in the "Na Uyutnoi" gallery in memories, and now we are smoothly transitioning to the events of the next year, 1997. Unfortunately, our memories melt like snow and many things remain in oblivion; nevertheless, we continue.

Bruges

We left for Belgium in February. This was preceded by a lot of preparation. I made and approved sketches and prepared cardboard for painting. And then I really regretted that I didn't get to Bruges before I started working on the sketches. Bruges is one of the most extraordinary cities in Europe. After Paris, it is the second most visited by tourists. The city was built in the 12th century and at the same time, the city authorities imposed a strict ban on any distortion of the facades during reconstruction.

Thus, the Belgians were able to convey to us, and I think, will convey to our descendants all the uniqueness of Bruegel's Flanders. Small medieval streets intersected by canals. The city is arranged in such a way that it is surrounded by canals in several rows along the entire circumference. There are houses whose facades are only two meters, and there are such streets. In the evenings, all the bars and restaurants of Bruges are lit with candle lights, at the entrance to many establishments there are large pots filled with paraffin with wicks. If there are free seats in the bar, then these huge candles are lit, if not, they are extinguished.

Bruges has become a second family for us, and I am drawn there every day. The hotel where we did the painting became our home, when you enter there, you feel an extraordinary feeling of comfort and home. Every hour is so tempting to come there, and today it seems that Bruges is the second city of my heart.

And at that time, I made the sketches, approved them, we waited impatiently for the opening of the visa. And it was a lot of work for Lena Tumanova. The documents were made through the Dutch embassy. I remember that we had to go to Kyiv, the train arrived 15 minutes before the embassy opened, so we had to catch a taxi and get there in time. At exactly 8:30 an employee of the embassy came out, and everyone began to shout their names loudly, and the louder the better. Because if you are not heard and recorded, then you will have to stay for one more day. And this entails booking a hotel room and so on. Every time we draw up exit documents, we poor Ukrainians come up with unimaginable humiliations. I wonder what this is for us?

After a lot of work by Dutch lawyers, we were finally given permission to leave. Halyna Aleksandrovna Sydyky joked, saying that we, the Radu, are now the most verified people in their country.

An interesting event happened later, when we were already there and engaged with the hotel staff in clearing the paintings that we had brought for the exhibition... Everyone went to the customs warehouse, and I remained waiting for them in the minibus. I sat and looked at my passport, my beautiful new visa... and suddenly I found out that it was only valid for 15 days instead of 3 months. The fact is that everyone was so happy that it was issued, that no one checked the dates before departure. This was interesting news, because staying without a visa was a violation of the law, it was difficult to extend it on the spot, you had to work for 15 days and return...

So, we started and did part of the work, got a lot of satisfaction from what we had done, but soon left to return, this time at the end of August.

And it became useful for the gallery that precisely in the office in the hotel, I got hold of an advertisement of the Exhibition Center in Ghent, where, among other industrial exhibitions, the Lineart festival was held, in which we soon took part, namely in 1998. But this will be discussed later in the history of the Maritime Gallery.

So, we started and did part of the work, got a lot of satisfaction from what we had done, but soon left to return, this time at the end of August.
